Exam Cycles & Exemptions in ACCA

Exam cycles for all kinds of ACCA Qualifications

ACCA have fixed four exam cycles a year for both CBE and paper-based exams. Students are allowed to take a during maximum of 4 exams each exam cycle across a maximum of 8 distinct exams over the course of a calendar year. These can be any combination of computer-based and paper-based exams.

For the four sessions, each exam cycle is as follows:

March session : 1 Jan - 31 March
June session : 1 April - 30 June
September session : 1 July - 30 September
December session : 1 Oct - 31 December

When do exams take place?

ACCA run four exam sessions per year, and in addition the majority of exams at Foundations level and the Applied Knowledge Plus Corporate and Business Law (LW-GLO and LW-ENG) exams of the ACCA Qualification are available as on-demand computer based exams (CBE) which provide students with even greater flexibility and convenience.

On-demand CBE:

On-demand Computer Based Exams (CBEs) are available for the first seven papers within the foundation-level qualifications and the Applied Knowledge EXAMS and the Corporate and Business Law (F-4) exams of the ACCA qualification. Please remember that you must be registered with ACCA prior to being entered for on-demand CBEs.

How many exams can I take at each exam session under Foundations in Accountancy (FIA)?

There is no restriction to the number of exams you may attempt, allowing you to choose to sit as many or as few papers as you like at each exam session. You are, however, recommended to attempt a maximum of four exams in a six-month period.

EXEMPTIONS IN ACCA COURSE

Minimum of 01 Paper to Maximum of 09 Papers (F1 to F9) of both Knowledge and Skill Levels are EXEMPTED in ACCA Qualification/Course for the following students – with reference to our Indian Students. X,XI & XII students/HSC (+2)/Diploma or equivalent passed/Non-Commerce Graduates - No Exemptions

On Admission in Delhi University B.Com/B.Com (Hons) – F1 to F4 Exempted on Provisional basis in their First Year itself and they can start ACCA from F5 Paper. No other Universities have this privilege in India. After their Graduation, the Exemptions will be permanent.

Graduates with Commerce Major like B.Com/B.Com (Hons) - F1 to F4 Exempted.

CMA (ICWA) with Less than 5 year experience - F1,F2,F3,F4,F6,F7 Exempted.

Company Secretary (CS) - F6 (LW) Exempted.

US-CMA with 2 year experience in Management Accounting Role - F1,F2,F3,F4,F5,F8,F9 Exempted.

CA Qualified/CMA Qualified with min 5 year experience / CA Finalist with 40% marks in CM & PE, FR & SFM in Final - F1 to F9 Exempted.

How quickly can I complete the Foundations level?

Once you are a registered student at Foundations level, you have an unlimited amount of time in which to complete the qualifications, however this level can be completed quite quickly. If you plan to study the entire Foundations level, or if you are in Pakistan or Bangladesh and registering on the Foundation Diploma, after taking your first exam, you can complete the Foundations level within a year. The Certified Accounting Technician qualification can also be completed in this time provided you achieve your required work experience while studying.

Who can and how to start ACCA?

Any student after X class through Foundations in Accountancy (FIA) route, for which no formal educational qualification is required. After achieving FIA from ACCA, a student can continue his/her Regular ACCA since then and could complete before Graduation as well. Many had achieved ACCA Qualification in this route throughout the world including Indian students at the age of 18. Mr.Ramkumar Raman is the Youngest Chartered Accountant in the World, who achieved it at 18 itself. He started FIA in his school days and completed when he finished his XII std. He is from Chennai and now based at Dubai, UAE.
